A distant hello

Some favorites scenes from films

Today some moleskines, first some scenes from films, it's been a while since I watched some of the films so my memory might play tricks. This is the sphinx that guard my sketchbooks, questions three you have to answer to pass mee. And some self portraits can't get to much of them. Excellent hunting grounds for Stephane Kardos

Stephane Kardos blog , (Stef's sketches) was one of the reasons I started blogging, his travel sketches and sketches of people are superb. Sometime I wish I could capture people like he does, especially when I visit a place like Bar Centro in Gothenburg. I have not mustered the derring-do to sketch people from life yet, the people that frequent Bar Centro is people who work in advertising and architecture firms and they all look very trendy. Party at Camilla and Ingvar

Yesterday we went to a party at Camilla Engman and her husband Ingvar, I made this small picture for it. The text reads: on every good pig there goes 39 bad. Vary nice party thanks to you both. Mattias Showroom #6, to dress a lion

Left to her own devices my Lion would never wear anything else then her leisure suit, therefore I (as the Fashion guru that I am) have designed a collection of clothes and accessories designed for the female feline. The party dress enhances the beauty of the female movement in subtle ways while keeping the sex-appeal factor high. In Sweden we take TV-watching seriously and like to dress for the occasion, I have made some small changes to my own suit I still think it might be to manly for a woman to wear. When it come to business I've taken the best from the traditional business suit, punk and the military uniform, and made a powerful but still feminine statement. accessories And for the beach, let's be careful of the sun. I like my lion to have a pale complexion. This concludes my fashion experiment for this time, tonight we celebrate Raymond Chandler day, the way it was supposed to be celebrated, heres looking at you kid.

Mattias Shoowroom #4, mum theres a Dandy in the garden

Some people like to relax at home, not thinking about their appearance. This is not for me. As the dedicated follower of fashion that I am, I never let my guard down. I see it as my duty to always look good. That's why when I do garden work, I like to dress the dandy way, in this regard my role models are Tennessee Williams, Mark Twain and dare I mention him, Ezra Pound.

I've stopped using this suit in public as it's frank male sensuality tended to over excite people. My pygmé elephants though seem to handle it, they are not that easily agitated.

We work for an American publisher and according to their rules every employee must have hair (Apparently it's stipulated in the American constitution) so I wear a wig at work. Luckily my extensive wig collection comes in handy here. The Polar bear is an idea from management, they say it keeps our focus while in crunch. Accsessoirs To work I like to have something comfortable on my feet, this is my shoes of choice. They are not only nice to wear but they also give me a boost in height. My lunch box is as large as can handle a fried Swan, (my lunch food of choice, as theres a lot of Swans in Gothenburg), sorry vegetarianism is not an option for my baroque lifestyle.

The Adolfsson syndrome

I don't know if this is a common problem amongst illustrator but since I've started drawing every day I've got me a lump on my index finger, exactly where the pen is. This might be part of an evolution process or a new kind of sickness. I know that syndrome sounds a little grandiose but lump doesn't have the same ring to it, I'm aiming for posterity here . Don't want to go down in history as the Adolfsson lump. It would be interesting to know if someone else has noticed this or some other malady due to their artistic craft.

Sometimes you have to change your focus

I'll have to start with some real projects next week, see if some of them are possible to share while they are progressing, other wise I'll fix other stuff to post. If your into listening to music via the internet theres two great sites Pandora, (if you like to broaden your music tastes, love the "why are we playing this track". It's nice to get your music tastes explained in a few dry lines), or The Hype machine, to find specific artist.

Wind

or rather lack of. This week Illustration Friday is wind. Today winter struck in Gothenburg, with snow and hard winds, summer seems awfully distant.

Wellington hübris

For all my adult life I've (as many other city dwellers) not dressed according to climate. Gothenburg is notorious for it's rainy weather, but still people chose shoes as livening in Tuscany. This has made it hard to move with dignity, to be frank, my prancing between puddles wouldn't have brought me a starring lead in "the dirty dozen" And the end result was alway pure Bergman Angst as your feet always ended up wet. Swallowing my pride I bought me a pair of rubber boots, (and a raincoat and rain pants) It's hard to describe the hesitation I felt initially, the urge to prance almost took me over. But a new feeling took over when my brain noticed that I still was dry, even after I'd enter a mighty puddle. First the feeling was relief... To gradually turn into something different, the feeling of pure power.. And that's why you better stay clear of Gothenburg when it's raining..
