When pigs fly

I've got a lot of questions regarding the flying pigs that sometimes occur in my drawings, and it's time to reveal their secret Apart from being a serf at a game company, doing the occasional doodle I'm also a fully licensed pig farmer (through the UEPFA, United European pig farmer Association). In farming the pigs I noticed that certain pigs tended to be able to reach heights I didn't think possible, see the pig on the roof?) By carefully inter breeding these individuals I was able to enhance their airborne capacities further And at last making some of the developing wings. And at last making them more birdlike, mark you they still don't lay eggs, they are still mammals. They have kept all the good sides of pigs with the bonus of flight. Now I need a catchy name for them, flying pigs doesn't really do it for me. All suggestions are welcome. Technorati Tags:pigs ,drawing ,art ,moleskine,

  1. Thanks, Mattias, I think this clears up alot of confusion out there. Your new species has been seen over these parts too - at least they don't spread bird flu.

Personally, I'd like to coin the name "Porktross".
    Or maybe 'Peagle'...?

  2. Hm, Peagle has a nice ring to it, I'll post my favourites if I get any more suggestions.

  13. Mattias, you make me laugh! :)

I wonder if you ever saw Porco Rosso by the great Japanese animator, Hayao Miyazaki. I think you'd like it.

On suggestions for names: Pird is quite nice. And the Latin name for the species could be Aves Porci (and that's the proper declension - plural).

Another alternative could be Volocer-porcus (singular), or Voloces-porci (plural).

How about calling them "Fligs" - as long as the French policemen (les flics) don't have any say against that suggestion.

    *) piglish for "great"

  18. There you go Mattias, there's lots of good suggestions... I vote for PIRD!

Pigs are nice and round and pink, they give really good inspiration, don't they?

I've tried to work about flamingos, but although they're pink too, its just not the same...
