Trying to find ways of reproducing my sketchbooks, as digital prints and books, this I soon find takes a lot of work, only to edit out the center folds, choosing to go black and white or keeping the yellow hue (perhaps tp print on yellowish paper instead). Must also decide if/what kind of printer to choose, there is quite a lot of good ink jet printers nowadays.
Any suggestions on printers would be much appreciated. And I do take requests if someone has a favorite page from any moleskine, I'll try to be quite moderate when I come to pricing.

I like the original yellow background, I think it adds something.

The only way to know for sure is a test print, I'm afraid.
Would it be totally impossible to keep the original image WITH the center fold and maybe bind it in a way that's similar to the original moleskine?
being in the center would make it virtually invisible, plus it would respect the original proportions, plus would be quicker.

Yes i will try to get a yellowish paper to print on, keeping the center I will have to have be very precise, if I make smaller folders I can make one perfect centerfold the other pages have to be not so perfect (great English in that line). The best thing would probably be to leave the moleskine books, but I like the unpretentiousness of them. thanks

Hi Mattias, these are the same questions that I've got with my sketchbooks... Sometimes I like pure black&white, sometimes the yellow hue... I'm totally undecided.

ReplyDeleteI say don't retouch the center fold at all. the original look is what is so great about them. don't make them white. keep them as much as the original as possible. that's what i think. you are a genius and geniuses shouldn't change a thing.

ReplyDeleteAnd thanks Tommy, I think I would prefer to print it on a yellow paper in that case, then centerfold would be okay to keep if the scanning was consistent, it depends on where in the book it's drawn.
