Big catch

I used a traditional dip pen for a change, the same ink though.

  1. Maybe it's a big oil spill rescue, or rather ink spill...

  2. Nice sketch.
How do you successfully use Noodler's Eel on a Moleskine? I can not get mine to dry... ever. The paper is coated and does not allow the ink to dry properly. I have gone back a month or so later to a drawing I did and it will still smudge.

Anyway, I love the car sketch as well. Nice perspective.

  3. That's strange for me the ink dries almost directly when drawing in moleskines, when I draw on watercolor paper the drying time can be up to 24 hours. I hope they have not changed the books (I got a bunch of books from moleskine and have not bought any new ones for about 2 years)

  4. Well these are brand new Moleskines. I have pretty much abandoned my fountain pens and started using these to draw:

That or the Pitt Brush pens.

  5. I tried some filt pens the other week but I have a hard time getting used to it, I think I'll stick to a fountain pen and if the moleskine won't accept it I'll change sketchbook.

  6. Yeah, the brush pens are not for detailed work at all, which you are so good at. And don't take my word for it on the Moleskines but I have tried 3 different Noodlers inks and they all smudge.

    Thanks for the replies.

  7. Have you ever illustrated a children's book?

  8. Well Mattias I must apologize for my comments above about drying times. The Moleskine I was using before was the notebook, not the sketchbook. The notebook has much thinner pages and has a coated surface, therefore the ink has a difficult time drying unless it is a sharpie or the like. I just started my next Moleskine and am using the sketchbook and the pages seem to accept the Noodler's ink quite well. I have to give it a minute before I close up and walk off but it works nicely. Mind you I am using Bad Black Moccasin but I would assume the Eel inks dry just as fast.

    Take care.
