Urban decay
Kavalla used to be the center of the Greek tobacco industry you can still see remnants of a glorious part while strolling through the city. If you come buy a interesting or beautiful building it's almost certainly in heavy decay. This first I did while sitting on a heavy trafficked way, a kind man stopped his car and gave me some water and a bottle of juice, very kind.
Hopefully the graffiti on the wall means nothing in particular, if you are able to read greek please see if you can decipher it's meaning. As a downside to drawing on place my but tend to hurt after one hour or so, hopefully a rich Greek Diet will put some much needed lard on my bony behind..

It says "Do not draw this building".
no it says death to your civilization!
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful to see another aspect of your talent. I like the very subtle colours. I don't envy you drawing in that heat!

That building on top is amazingly gorgeous! Your talent really shines in these drawings!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful their drawings. I liked everything that I saw here in the blogg. Creativity is magnifies. Do you draw direct without doing the sketch before?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
thanks all, yes it's rather hot
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful drawings... I never seem to have the time or patience to just sit and draw the world around me...sigh.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see these, cheers Mattias.
ReplyDeleteMy Greek friend says it's more or less nonsense and he can't find any meaning in it. Great sketch though!
ReplyDeleteThe anglicized version of the greek says "phola-ston poaitismosa" I think, but it doesn't seem to make any sense.
